Very Moore-ish

Turns out this Volti chap was the French equivalent of Henry Moore, and more or less operating simultaneously across the Channel - a bit like Charles Rennie Macintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright.

He was obviously extremely prolific and quelle surprise there is an entire museum dedicated to his work in Villefranche.  It's free to the public, and has been cleverly incorporated into the old citadel literally right beneath its walls.

There's a huge amount of his work here and yet again you have to marvel at the French ability to juxtapose modern art against a 12th Century fort as you wander around probably what were dungeons, viewing post-modern sculptural nudes.

It was a perfect way to pass a rainy old day.

And before you get too concerned that I may be losing focus on the hedonism, here am I with Dad and Una on our last night in Villefranche.  As you can see a terrible time was being had by all.
