We visited Eze village today, a small medieval village perched on the clifftop above the Cote d'Azur. Established in the 14th century it is literally built into the cliff and commands spectacular views back over Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche and Nice.
A highlight of visiting Eze is a visit to Chateau Eza, a luxury boutique hotel that was the summer residence of the Swedish Royal family from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Naturally it would have been rude not to indulge in a glass of 2004 Tattinger Rose Champagne on the terrace to mark the occasion.
The church courtyard looks like it's straight out of Narnia - the little doorway feels as if you could walk through it up into the clouds and wander off into an alternate universe and the lamp post most definitely has magical properties.
The little church itself is equally spectacular and whilst this photo doesn't do it justice, even my atheist soul was ever so slightly entranced by it...
Looks idyllic!
